"I use printmaking, not to produce multiples, but for the distinctive qualities that can be achieved. Each print, even when taken from the same plate or screen, will differ from the next due to variations in ink application, combining and layering, composition and/or progression of plates. Traditional printmaking techniques are combined with photo-mechanical and digital methods. Through a combination of printmaking techniques, collage and assemblage, strength and presence are explored, contrasted with the ephemeral and disintegration. Works can appear abstract but are usually based on observation within an immediate environment, combined with collected objects and images.
"Natural and synthetic shapes, forms and textures are simulated by the exploration of materials - the physical process of making is as important as the finished work - scratching, gouging, tearing, melting and pouring. Living, working and engaging with the coast continually influences colour, texture and subject. Currently, I am exploring and recording the synthesis of the man-made object into the coastal environment.
"I work in Pembrokeshire as a lecturer in Art & Design."
