At one time Andie Clay found the land- and sea-scapes of west Wales and the elements that shape them “almost frightening”. Now she sees, and her pictures convey, something equally powerful but altogether more positive and uplifting.
Her work is characterised by expressive use of colour and energetic mark-making. She works in mixed media, particularly acrylic, pastel and graphite, and continually practises drawing which she says is as essential to an artist as playing scales is to a concert pianist.
Andie lives and works near Cardigan. She has exhibited and sold widely – two of her works hang in the British Embassy in Brazil.
