"My nationality is British, my origins are Other". 

 

Identity and belonging are recurring themes in Nathan Ford's work, given new impetus by his move from London in 2002 to Nantymoel, a Welsh valleys village, and raising two young sons there.  Painting mainly in oils, his subjects range from landscape studies to involved figure paintings.

 

Awards include:

Scholarship, Byam Shaw School, London, 1997 - 2000: Bursary, Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers, London, 1998: Prince of Wales's Young Artist award, London, 1999: Commendation, Royal West of England Academy, 2001: Gordon Hulson Memorial Prize, Royal Society of British Artists, London, 2001: Winsor & Newton Young Artist of the Year 2nd prize 1999, 2000; 1st prize 2001, 2003; Commendation 2004: Arts Council of Wales Project Grant 2007.
