“Painting is my way of life; it is a journey through colour, composition, pattern, negative shapes and layers. I explore fragmented distant memories and imagination, or a scene recalled from yesterday, the colour of the sky against a field of yellow, or the pattern of distant fields mimicking the shadows thrown by a washing line.

“My way of working is a relatively new approach for me. Since returning to college as a mature student and gaining a first class degree with honours from Carmarthen College of Art in 2005, I have discovered a new and positive way of working which helps to express my thoughts and, hopefully, entices the imagination to work for the viewer, too.

“I currently teach art, part-time, through Further Education. I find this rewarding as I am able to use my discoveries to inspire others. Much of what I do has been influenced by my very first life-drawing tutor, Bob Jackson, who led me to realise that ‘not everything we see is as we think we see it’.”
