Karen Pearce moved from Fiji to Wales as a child in the 1960s. She began to draw and paint in the early 80s, holding her first solo exhibition in 1986. Her formal fine art training was at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, where she was awarded a BA in 2001 and an MA in 2003. Among other prizes she won there was a Royal Academy Landscape Scholarship.

Karen now lives and works in Aberystwyth. Her painting draws upon the surrounding landscape. Working from notes and sketches made outdoors she creates images bringing together the many and varied aspects of landscape and reflecting her emotional responses to it.

June 2010: we hope to have more of Karen's work later this season.
