Tony has been writing verse since he was twelve. In 1978 he won a Poetry Society of America Award and appeared in Encounter opposite R S Thomas. After an ITV documentary on his pots, poems and musical instruments, a verse-play, ‘Going Out’ went out on Anglia TV. Recent poems in Rialto and the SHOp: four collections to date.
Aged nineteen, a year’s classes with that best of potters, Michael Casson, led to forty years of living by making pots: thrown stoneware. A haphazard range of unturned, useful, once-fired pots, in earth, sea and sky colours – which hope to sneak an incidental beauty into daily life.
Tony’s main outlet for the last twenty five years has been All Saints Garden Craft Fair in the heart of Cambridge. Preferring to sell direct, his pots are otherwise only available at home sales, or here, in St Davids Studio Gallery.
